Benefits of Precast Concrete
Precast concrete is at the core of Composite’s activities in the car park, commercial, retail, education and health sectors. We are market leaders in this prefabricated frame market and offer a total capability service which embraces the design, supply and erection of structural frames for all building types.
Our business has developed through the experience and expertise gained since 1983 in the design and erection of precast concrete framed structures. Precast concrete is our preferred material, but we can incorporate structural steel within our package if this is beneficial to the project.
- robust, structurally sound solutions offering column-free, clear spans with flat soffits providing user-friendly and flexible layouts
- a design life in excess of 50 years
- components which can be directly decorated, with minimal additional work, as a result of being produced from steel moulds in the factory
- an inherent fire rating of at least one hour
- the potential for reduced energy consumption and service requirements through the heat sink capabilities of the structural mass
- reduced whole life building costs as a result of low, long-term maintenance
- excellent acoustic properties
- less IT disruption due to the minimal use of steel reinforcement
- economy of scale through repetition in design and detailing of components
- fast erection rates, ensuring the shortest possible on-site construction programme, through the use of accurately dimensioned components, manufactured under quality controlled conditions and delivered ‘just-in-time’
- maximum health & safety and environmental performance, due to minimal on-site construction activities
- reductions in the level of dust, noise, waste and disruption normally associated with the more traditional forms of construction
All of our structures are designed by our in-house team of qualified engineers who, together with our experienced draughtsmen, carry out their work in accordance with the relevant Building Regulations and Codes of Practice.
Construction of our structural frames is undertaken by our team of project and site managers who, together with their supporting erection teams, carry out all the on-site operations in accordance with the appropriate method statements, risk assessments and Health & Safety procedures.
