A Career with Composite
We recruit at three main levels:
- School leavers/apprentices
- Graduates
- Experienced professionals within the construction, surveying, draughtsmanship, finance, business development and human resources fields
Training and Development
We are a recognised Investor in People and encourage new employees to develop their skills and competencies so that they may progress their careers. All new employees and, where appropriate, any employee changing jobs within the company, are given an induction programme. Financial support and time off is given to employees studying for professional qualifications.
When in 2008 we were re-accredited with the IIP Standard for the fifth time, we were praised for our continued improvement and development ethos. The inspectors highlighted that the size of the company ensures people have easy access to senior managers and although senior management initially formulates the business plan, other members of staff are involved in the consultation process.
The inspectors also highlighted our support for learning and development, both for mandatory reasons and for job-related needs, was also highlighted. They described Composite as having a very welcoming and relaxed atmosphere, promoting open discussions and enabling new staff to ask questions without hesitation.
Benefits/Conditions of Service
We offer a range of generous staff benefits, including company car (where appropriate for the job), non-contributory pension scheme, life assurance cover, private healthcare, free parking, childcare vouchers and generous annual leave. Our flexible working policy provides an opportunity for employees to achieve a better work/life balance. Professional membership fees are paid.
We also have an active Social Club, with free membership open to all staff.
Full details of our Conditions of Service are contained in our Employee Handbook, which is given to all new employees.
Equality and Diversity
We are an equal opportunities employer. We select, promote and treat individuals on the basis of their relevant competencies and skills and their ability to fulfil the requirements of the job. We do not discourage people with disabilities from applying to join us.
We acknowledge that men and women are entitled to be paid equally without any bias on the grounds of sex. The company is committed to ensuring that every employee has equal pay for like work or work of equal value, unless there is a material factor unrelated to the sex of the employee that would explain that difference.
Health & Safety
We take health & safety extremely seriously, both in our offices and on our construction sites.
Although we have an excellent site safety record, we recognise the need to maintain the highest possible standards and in 2007 we were delighted to become one of a select group of UK companies to adopt a work restraint safety system, which requires each employee working on the leading edge of a building to wear a full body harness attached to an adjustable lanyard to prevent a fall.
All our site managers, design engineers, estimators and draughtsmen have been trained in its use.
In 2008 we introduced Near Miss reporting procedures at all of our construction sites and offices.
